LET’S TALK MET.

5/8/2025

As we all know, the 2025 Met Gala took place on Monday, May 5th. This wouldn’t be a part-fashion, part-feelings blog without talking about our feelings for one of the biggest nights in fashion. Tighten your heel straps, because I’m going to count down my top 5 looks of the night. Controversial? Probably. Let’s do it.

Before we begin, what was even the theme? As described by culted via Instagram, “The theme for this year’s Met Gala was Superfine: Tailoring Black Style, celebrating the style of the Blank Dandy - someone who lives to dress wisely and well in a dignifying yet subtle way, staying true to the wearer.”

So, who stayed on theme and looked fabulous at the same time?

#5 - Colman Domingo, tribute to André Leon Talley.

This two-part Valentino look stunned on the carpet. The royal blue cape was a dramatic silhouette, just to pull another fitted & fantastic look, perfecting encompassing the Tailored for You theme. As a co-chair this year, we expected nothing less.

#4 - Tracee Ellis Ross

I mean, how much do I really need to say? Playing with proportions and color, Marc Jacobs did not come to play at this year’s MET. The tailoring is fabulous, and the hat completes the look effortlessly. She looks exuberant.

#3 - Teyana Taylor

I told you Marc Jacobs won, didn’t I? The showstopping 'Rose in Harlem' had all eyes on Taylor as she walked the stairs. The suit x cape x cane combination left everyone’s jaw on the ground. Styled by Academy Award-winning costume designer Ruth E. Carter, Taylor matched the theme perfectly.

#2 - Diana Ross

Since I saw it, this look has not left my brain. This custom white gown designed by Ugo Mozie featured an 18-foot train embroidered with the names of her children and grandchildren. The photo I included doesn’t even show how beautiful and long the train really is (look it up, I beg you). The feathers, the hat, the gown — this was, hands down, one of the best looks of the night.

And last, but CERTAINLY not least, my favorite look of the night:

#1 - Laura Harrier

Everything about this look is perfection. I don’t need to say very much at all, as the look speaks for itself. Everyone say THANK YOU to GapStudio. You had, undoubtedly, the best look of the night.

While it is very hard to limit an entire night of fashion down to five looks, these are the ones that stunned most to me. Honorable mentions include: Coco Jones, Doja Cat, Damson Idris, and Alex Consani.

See you next year ;)
