How to elevate every single outfit

How to elevate every single outfit: A guide.

If you’re looking to get more into fashion and make your outfits more memorable, you’ve come to the right place.

As someone who used to dress a bit less exciting a few years back, I’ve come to deeply care about not only what I put on my body, but also how to make it stand out. And the real truth is, you don’t need a lot of money to do it.

I feel like people often misunderstand the fashion space, thinking they always need to buy more pieces to stay relevant and with the times. Yet, having solid basics with the capacity to build on them can absolutely do the trick. I’m going to tell you how.

The key to elevating any and all outfits is accessories. Seems simple, but people often do not reach their potential when it comes to this. You can wear a simple white tee shirt and jeans and bring it to life with accessories. Let’s dive into a few crucial ones:

*None of this is sponsored, all just my experience and liking ;)

1 — Your hands & wrists

You should absolutely invest in rings, bracelets, and a watch. It makes all the difference with your outfit. Think about how much we talk with our hands, how often they are used for expression. Figure out what type of jewelry you like — silver vs. gold, dainty vs. chunky — and run with it. I personally wear gold, but I also love mixed metal looks. People are constantly looking at our hands and wrists, so might as well dress them up. (This principle can be applied to getting your nails done, however it is expensive to upkeep. I <3 press ons).

These are a few I wear every single day — I also love anything & everything from gorjana.com.

2 — Belts

If you can include a belt in your outfit, do it. There doesn’t even need to be a belt loop to incorporate it. I will often layer a large belt over an outfit to help break it up, and I have even fell victim to the “useless” belt trend, where I put one on, just for the sake of putting it on. These belts can be staples, like brown and black, but don’t be afraid to choose a bold color, to draw attention. I believe a belt can truly make or break an outfit; and once you have one, you can wear it for a lifetime.

I swear by these ones:

3 — Purses

Men, this does not exclude you — please look at Jacob Elordi and Christopher Briney. Purses are your opportunity to have fun and be different. Everything else about your outfit can be more “standard” with colors and patterns if you don’t like to be too loud; however, I think purses can be standouts for an outfit. I love a fun colored purse on a neutral outfit to bring it to life.  Beaded, colorful, textured, there are so many options to explore and find your own unique taste.

Here are a few examples of ones I love:

4 — Headwear

Short and sweet, but people often overlook the power of hats, head scarfs, ribbons, hair clips, etc. This can be a super easy way to take an outfit from boring to elevated. You can completely change the vibe of an outfit with it, so use it wisely.

5 — Shoes

To quote Carrie Bradshaw, “Charlotte, like every other normal woman in Manhattan, had a thing for shoes.” I am unfortunately the victim to this statement. I am obsessed with shoes, and while investing in shoes can be more expensive, there are so many options to buy second-hand and pass them on for generations. Especially with the seasons changing, there are so many options to choose from: flats, loafers, boots, kitten heels, sneakers. The world is your oyster to switch up your shoes. (I personally am stuck on flats due to their versatility and femininity!)

While these are just the basics, this is a good starting point to take your outfits to the next level. Find what you love and keep adding on to it. I’ll do the same, and you may just end up with a How to elevate every single outfit pt. 2!
